QA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF)
Overview
The QA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) is a 3-day accredited first aid course that qualifies delegates as their organisation’s designated first aider. Suited to higher-risk workplaces where HSE regulations require trained First Aiders on site.
Who it’s for
This course is for anyone whose role includes a designated first-aider responsibility — from construction, manufacturing and warehousing to healthcare, education, hospitality, and multi-site operations. Suitable for both first-time learners and experienced first aiders returning for a full re-qualification.
What you’ll learn
- Assess the safety of a scene and manage an incident with confidence
- Perform CPR and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) on adults
- Manage an unconscious casualty, including the primary and secondary survey
- Recognise and respond to shock, choking, and severe bleeding
- Treat burns, fractures, sprains, and head, neck and spinal injuries
- Handle medical emergencies including seizures, diabetic incidents, asthma, and anaphylaxis
- Complete accurate incident reporting compliant with RIDDOR guidance
Format
- Duration: 3 days (18 contact hours), delivered consecutively or across 3 non-consecutive days by arrangement
- Delivery: in-person — hosted at your premises for on-site groups (6+ delegates) or at our Bristol venue for open courses
- Cohort size: up to 12 delegates per instructor
- Materials: printed learner workbook, first-aid manual, and QA-issued certificate on successful completion
- Assessment: ongoing practical assessment plus a short written evaluation on day 3
Accreditation and certification
Certified by Qualsafe Awards (QA) against the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) at Level 3. Meets the Health and Safety Executive’s First Aid at Work standard. Certification is valid for 3 years; a 2-day annual refresher (sold separately) is recommended to keep skills current.

Delivered by our accredited Comera Medical Training team. All trainers hold the Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF), current first-aid instructor certification, and enhanced DBS clearance where required by the client sector.
