The QA Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) is a 1-day accredited course covering the essentials of paediatric emergency first aid — the compact route to Ofsted EYFS-compliant paediatric first-aid competency.
Who it’s for
For nursery staff, childminders, school-based staff, sports coaches, and family-facing personnel who need paediatric first-aid competency at emergency level. Where a full 2-day Level 3 Paediatric First Aid course is required, see that course instead.
What you’ll learn
- Assess and respond to incidents involving infants and children
- Perform infant and child CPR
- Manage choking in infants and children
- Recognise and respond to shock, bleeding, and burns in paediatric casualties
- Handle common paediatric medical emergencies
Format
- Duration: 1 day
- Delivery: in-person, at your premises for on-site groups or at our Bristol venue for open courses
- Cohort size: up to 12 delegates per instructor
- Materials: printed workbook and QA-issued certificate on successful completion
- Assessment: ongoing practical assessment plus a short evaluation
Accreditation and certification
Certified by Qualsafe Awards (QA) against the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) at Level 3. Meets Ofsted EYFS requirements at emergency level. Certification valid for 3 years.
