Overview
The QA Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) is Comera’s foundation workplace first aid course, covering the core competencies for a designated Emergency First Aider (EFAW). Suited to lower-risk workplaces where HSE regulations require trained first-aid cover on site.
Who it’s for
This course is for anyone acting as the nominated first aider in a low-risk workplace — offices, retail, education, hospitality, and small operational teams. Suitable for first-time learners and existing EFAW-qualified staff completing a refresher.
What you’ll learn
- Assess an incident scene and manage priorities safely
- Perform primary and secondary casualty surveys
- Deliver effective CPR and use an automated external defibrillator (AED)
- Manage an unresponsive but breathing casualty (recovery position)
- Recognise and treat shock, choking, minor bleeding, and burns
- Handle common medical emergencies including seizures and asthma
- Complete accurate incident reporting
Format
- Duration: 3 days
- Delivery: in-person, hosted at your premises for on-site groups or at our Bristol venue for open courses
- Cohort size: up to 12 delegates per instructor
- Materials: printed learner workbook and QA-issued certificate on successful completion
- Assessment: ongoing practical assessment with a short evaluation on the final day
Accreditation and certification
Certified by Qualsafe Awards (QA) against the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) at Level 3. Meets the Health and Safety Executive’s Emergency First Aid at Work standard. Certification is valid for 3 years; annual refresher recommended.
