Combined First Aid at Work and Paediatric First Aid | 3-day Course

Overview

The Combined First Aid at Work and Paediatric First Aid course delivers both workplace first-aid (adult casualties) and paediatric first-aid (infant and child casualties) competencies in a single 3-day training block. Efficient dual-qualification for organisations needing both.

Who it’s for

For workplaces where designated first aiders need to be competent across both adult and paediatric casualties — schools, nurseries, family-facing services, leisure and hospitality settings, family-run businesses, and multi-role safeguarding staff. Ideal where separate FAW and Paediatric qualifications would otherwise require two separate courses.

What you’ll learn

  • Assess and manage incidents involving both adult and paediatric casualties
  • Perform CPR for adults, children, and infants
  • Use an AED across adult and paediatric contexts
  • Manage choking in adults, children, and infants
  • Respond to shock, bleeding, burns, and injuries in both age groups
  • Handle common medical emergencies including seizures, meningitis, asthma, and anaphylaxis
  • Complete incident reporting to workplace and safeguarding standards

Format

  • Duration: 3 days (18 contact hours)
  • Delivery: in-person, hosted at your premises for on-site groups (6+ delegates) or at our Bristol venue for open courses
  • Cohort size: up to 12 delegates per instructor
  • Materials: printed learner workbook, first-aid manuals for both contexts, and QA-issued certificate on completion
  • Assessment: ongoing practical assessment plus a short written evaluation

Accreditation and certification

Certified by Qualsafe Awards (QA) — delegates receive both the Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) and the Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF). Both certifications valid for 3 years.
