The QA Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (RQF) is a focused 1-day qualification covering CPR and AED use to a nationally-recognised standard. Ideal for organisations wanting basic life-support cover as a first line of response.

Who it’s for

For any workplace, community organisation, or venue where CPR and AED competency is needed as a first-response measure — from gyms and leisure centres to community-hall venues, retail environments, and workplaces investing in wider CPR/AED coverage across the team.

What you’ll learn

• Recognise cardiac arrest and initiate the chain of survival
• Deliver effective adult CPR at nationally-recognised standard
• Use an automated external defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively
• Manage a choking casualty (adult)
• Handover to emergency services

Format

• Duration: 1 day
• Delivery: in-person, at your premises for on-site groups or at our Bristol venue for open courses
• Cohort size: up to 12 delegates per instructor
• Materials: printed learner workbook and QA-issued certificate on successful completion
• Assessment: ongoing practical assessment plus a short evaluation on the day

Accreditation and certification

Certified by Qualsafe Awards (QA) against the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) at Level 2. Certification valid for 3 years.

Outcomes
