EOD Team Leader IMAS Level 2

Course Description

The EOD Team Leader IMAS Level 2 is a 3-week programme designed to enhance the knowledge, understanding and skills of the experienced EOD Level 1 practitioner and enable employment in the role of EOD Team Leader.  The course aims to produce candidates trained to meet the specification given in UN IMAS 09-30:

“In addition to the skills of a Level 1 (EOD) qualification, a Level 2 (EOD) qualification enables the holder to determine when it is safe to move and transport specific items of ordnance, as authorized in writing by a Level 3 (EOD) or above. It also enables the holder to conduct the simultaneous disposal of multiple items of ordnance using line mains or ring mains. This qualification extends only to those specific items of EO on which the individual has been recorded as trained on. The holder shall only conduct tasks in all environments subject to current written authorization from a Level 3 (EOD) operator or above.”

What’s involved?

This is a learner centred course delivered face-to-face and comprising of 15 guided learning days. Delivery offers theoretical and practical scenarios to provide context for all learning outcomes. Each outcome is designed and structured to assist individuals with the knowledge, understanding and practical skills required by the Level 2 EOD Team Leader.

Continued assessment is conducted during the course where learners must demonstrate competence for all outcomes listed. Practical assessments include live explosive handling.

Pre-requisite:

Learners must have previous operational experience at Level 1, be a minimum of 18 years of age, must be physically capable of completing the practical assessment. It is also advised that learners have a minimum of Level 1 in English.

In some circumstances students may be able to combine Level 1 and 2 training based on previous experience.
