Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator
Course Description
This Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator is designed to develop a learner’s skills and knowledge in basic life support and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) usage in emergency situations.Sudden cardiac arrest is one of the UK’s biggest killers, and yet statistics show that most of the British public are unaware of the life-saving difference they can make by performing CPR and defibrillation.
By attending this half-day comprehensive training course learners will learn skills needed to administer safe, prompt and effective basic life support and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely in emergency situations.
This award can also be delivered as a ‘bolt on’ to other first aid qualifications such as our Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work. For more information just ask.
On successful completion of this course, learners can receive a Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator e-certificate which is valid for three years.
Who’s it for?
Anyone though those with specific interest or responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities to provide BLS when dealing with an emergency situation which may involve using an AED, would find it beneficial.What’s involved?
The course requires half a day (4 hours) of classroom attendance generally running between 9am to 5pm.During the course learners are required to complete practical assessments and exams.
For added reassurance, each learner is assessed throughout the course using a range of practical demonstrations, question and answer sessions, quizzes and engaging activities designed to coach and support you.
To ensure you get the most effective learning experience, learners must be physically able to participate as you will be required to participate in practical scenario based training sessions.
Pre-requisite
- Learners must be at least 18 years old on the first day of the training
- Candidates need a basic command of English and maths (defined as Level 2)
