Overview

The QA Level 2 Award in Safeguarding and Protecting Children, Young People and Adults at Risk (RQF) is an accredited course covering the fundamentals of safeguarding — enabling team members to recognise, respond to, and report safeguarding concerns.

Who it’s for

For anyone working with or around children, young people, or vulnerable adults — including education staff, childcare and youth workers, healthcare teams, sports coaches, community-services personnel, and volunteers. Also suitable as a baseline qualification for teams delivering services to any public-facing audience.

What you’ll learn

• The legal and policy context of UK safeguarding
• Recognising the signs and indicators of abuse, neglect, and exploitation
• Types of abuse — physical, emotional, sexual, financial, and neglect
• Responding appropriately to safeguarding disclosures
• Reporting concerns through the correct channels
• Your role and responsibilities within a wider safeguarding framework

Format

• Delivery: in-person, at your premises for on-site groups or at our Bristol venue for open courses
• Cohort size: up to 12 delegates per instructor
• Materials: printed learner workbook and QA-issued certificate on successful completion
• Assessment: ongoing practical assessment plus a short evaluation on the day

Accreditation and certification

Certified by Qualsafe Awards (QA) against the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) at Level 2. Certification valid for 3 years.

Delivered by Comera Medical Training. All trainers hold the Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF) and current instructor certification.

Outcomes

On successful completion you’ll hold the QA Level 2 Award in Safeguarding and Protecting Children, Young People and Adults at Risk (RQF) — nationally recognised competency in recognising, responding to, and reporting safeguarding concerns.
