Description
With its focus on recovery and adaptation, this module is a key pillar of the Female Performance Course series and is essential for anyone seeking to optimise female athletic performance. Developed by Shapesmith in partnership with Comera Movement Science, the Recovery Strategies Module is led by Performance Fellow and Strength and Conditioning Coach Jack Davies, with expert input from Sports Scientist Dr Matt Hancock. Sleep, nutrition, and appropriately balanced cycles of training and rest are widely recognised as critical contributors to recovery. However, are these principles applied in the same way for female athletes? Beyond the familiar “sleep right, eat right” messaging, what additional strategies meaningfully support recovery in female performers across different training demands and life stages? This module addresses these questions and provides clear, actionable guidance grounded in contemporary evidence. The content blends cutting-edge research with real-world application and is designed for both female athletes, practitioners, and support staff who work with them. Whether you’re a fitness enthusiast, elite athlete, strength and conditioning coach, physiotherapist, sports scientist, or part of a multidisciplinary performance team, this module will deepen your theoretical and practical understanding of recovery strategies for female populations.
The module covers:
- Physiological foundations of recovery and adaptation in female athlete
- The interaction between training load, fatigue, and recovery capacity
- Sleep, nutrition, and lifestyle factors
- Evidence-based recovery strategies and their practical application
Interactive learning checks are included throughout, culminating in a final summative assessment and certificate of completion, all aimed at enhancing your confidence and self-efficacy when working with the athletic female.
